Our 200 Hour Spears Strong Mentorship is designed for understanding. Your success achieving your personal goals and professional goals go way past just memorizing and regurgitating anatomy, definitions, theories and more for a test.
We believe being able to adjust and apply your knowledge and understanding of how the most complex system on the planet (the human body which includes emotions) works is way more important to both your personal and professional success.
The human brain’s processing speed is pretty slow compared to modern technology and the human body wants to be as efficient as possible to conserve energy which makes it pretty difficult to be motivated to follow through on a plan let alone even set aside the time to even put a plan together. We’ll teach you how the nervous system controls your muscles and muscles have memories and sometimes the muscle memories control your nervous system in a modern convoluted way. Or another way of saying all this, we’ll teach you how to get out of your own way to achieving your personal and professional goals.
The 200 Hour Spears Strong Mentorship is not just for those who have a long term goal of being a personal trainer or health coach. The 200 Hour Spears Strong Mentorship is for anyone who wants to know why and how to become the best version of yourself. How schedules, when done correctly, set you free rather than take away your lust for life. The human brain and neuromuscular system work at peak performance through consistency and cycles. We’ll teach you how to apply this to your personal and professional goals to keep you from getting run down, burnt out or even depressed.
We’ll teach you how to train your brain and nervous system to be prepared and able to be adaptable in adverse situations or feeling good and energized while performing in an ideal environment. You will not only know what it takes to be physically strong and ready for where your life goals take you through the world, but you will also know what it takes to be emotionally strong when challenges and conflicts appear along your journey of success. And there will be challenges and conflicts, lots of them, along the way. The only guarantees of life.
Did You Know?
Did you know muscles only pull, they don’t ever push? Which means antagonistic muscles need to be in balance and work in symbiosis to stabilize a joint. But at the same time there is no stable spot in your body for said muscles to pull from. If your posture, or skeleton, is in alignment your skeleton should actually be floating through space and time not rubbing connective tissue until something tears or grinds away.
Did you know that your muscles are controlled neurologically but recover from stress biologically? How do you set up a training session, or even more difficult, a long term plan that accounts for the needs and demands of both systems for yourself or a client?
Did you know you burn the most fat and the most calories the day after a good night’s sleep? This makes sleep a foundational part of health and fitness, but how do you get better sleep?
Did you know muscle memory is not just for positive focused effect but is being created for every part of your daily life, including a lot that are negative for you. Thoughts that turn into emotions that turn into muscle memory, body feelings and physical reactions, including breathing, heart rate and muscles tensing. How do you not only create positive muscle memory moving forward but also remove and let go of negative past muscle memory.
Did you know your brain, nervous system and body want to be efficient to a fault and are in a sense training 24 hours a day? To make this happen it offloads using your energy to any possible external structure it has available to it regularly and tightens up muscles to restrict any range of motion not used regularly. A chair to sit in, a counter, table or desk to lean on, or a phone or computer to store information … A modern human lives a majority of their life with their arms and hands within a theoretical two-foot box in front of them between their hips and shoulders. How do you counteract non intentional negative daily training and maximize not only your body's flexibility but also create confidence and strength with moving in any direction without fear of a strain or pull?
Did you know that you can go about three weeks without eating, three days without drinking and about three minutes without breathing? Even though breathing is autonomously controlled by your nervous system doesn’t mean you can’t get better at breathing. How do you craft a plan for practicing breathing?
Did you know that most people when starting a health and/or fitness plan are in a ‘motivational bubble’ so to speak. Somewhere between two to six weeks depending on how excited they are about the change at hand before their motivation to keep sacrificing for a goal starts to dwindle and they generally drop off. 200 Hours In-Person and Online Mentoring Looks Like:
13 weeks (with a one week break) of workouts, mentoring, coaching, shadowing, studying and applying your knowledge both in person at the Spears Strong lab and online.
Sample Week:
6 hours/week at-home and in-person workouts led by Spears Strong Trainers to include small group training, group workouts and at-home video workouts.
4 hours/week in-person education including demonstrations, questions and answers and application of what you’ve learned.
3 hours/week at-home studying, reading, quizzes.
2 hours/week shadowing trainers/coaches.
