No Such Thing As “Good’ or ‘Bad” Food

Brunch: there are no rules~

When it comes to brunch, our food strategy is: there are no rules.

Why do we label and judge our food and what impact does that have on our ability or inability to eat healthy?

Every month at Spears Strong we focus on a theme, and we are being Curious about that theme. Because when we’re Curious we open up excitement and energy for the challenges that we are taking on.

Our theme for September is Nutrition and we are being curious about how we think about food. It’s not that food is good or bad but rather some food we need more of, some less, and some we don’t need at all. But that “don’t need’ category still matters. These are foods we eat to celebrate, socialize or enjoy for their flavor and fun elements. The key with these foods is to minimize them since they are calories that do not offer nutritional value and therefore either keep us from eating the healthier foods or they can cause us to overeat.

The way to do that is through adopting your own personal Food Strategies. This is your own diet created over time to give you a way to eat healthy all the time and enjoy your cake and pizza too!

Jonathan and I have a list of strategies we have developed and continue to develop as life changes and we learn new things about our tendencies, our health and the ever evolving research on nutrition.

Check out our strategies here for inspiration but your strategies should be specific to you. If you need help, reach out by commenting below or message us. We will work with you to develop your personal food strategies.
